Mexico - La Punta, Puerto Escondido
A bohemian surfer’s paradise.
Note: On March 6, 2026 a fire devastated the La Punta neighborhood burning down 60 local businesses. Some of the places listed on this blog may be temporarily closed.
WHERE WE STAYED
Casa WO, an award-winning luxury rental property with brutalist architecture designed by the renowned French architect Ludwig Godefroy. A two bedroom, two bathroom beach house featuring a full kitchen, living room, dining area and pool. The house is a five minute walk to the beach and the main street of La Punta, where you can find restaurants, shops, beach clubs, and surf spots.
WHERE WE ATE & DRANK
Fish Shack, a beachside seafood shack, tucked away in an alley, known for its fish and shrimp tacos.
Chicama La Punta Zicatela, fresh Peruvian food complimented by craft cocktails.
Lychee Thai Food, an open air beachside restaurant serving Thai fusion food and cocktails.
Café Olé, a bohemian open air cafe serving breakfast and lunch.
Kapara Mio, a casual Israeli and Mediterranean spot serving hummus, falafel, fresh salads and shawarma.
Espadín Restaurante, offers regional fresh Mexican cuisine overlooking one of the best views in
Puerto Escondido.
✈ Because we stayed at a rental property, we also stopped at the local bodega and stocked up on snacks, fresh fruit and cocktail ingredients to enjoy at our pool.
