Costa Rica - Nosara
WHERE WE STAYED
Esh Hotel, an adults-only (13+) luxury boutique hotel located in the jungle of Nosara, Costa Rica, near Playa Guiones. Inspired by the Hebrew word for "fire", it features minimalist and brutalist design, private plunge pools, a wellness spa, and farm-to-table dining. In 2025, they received a coveted Michelin Key. Prior to our arrival the hotel sent us a menu of activities that we could book, some inclusive of our stay and others booked through a third party.
WHERE WE ATE
The Breakfast Lounge at Esh for breakfast, which was included daily during our stay, is poolside and features smoothies as well as local and mexican inspired entrees.
Almar, the main restaurant at Esh for dinner the first two nights of our stay, which is in the same location at The Breakfast Lounge. A relaxing and minimalist poolside dining area with a menu featuring items from the sea - “almar de mar” - such as ceviche, sushi and locally inspired meat and seafood options.
Restaurante La Luna by the Coyol Group. If you are able and weather allows, sit on the patio or outside area. The setting is beautiful and the food did not disappoint. Specialties include their wood oven pizzas, mediterranean mezze, and kebabs. The portions are huge, so order accordingly.
Orgánico, a bakery, grocery store and boutique in the heart of downtown Nosara.
OUR ITINERARY
DAY SEVEN: Arrived around 3pm, checked in, enjoyed ceviche and cocktails, explored, showered, changed and enjoyed dinner at the hotel.
DAY EIGHT: Morning yoga at the hotel followed by breakfast by the pool. Laid out for a few hours and then took hotel transportation to the beach for a group sunset catamaran ride. We sailed out, snorkled, had the option to swim out to a small island, enjoyed some light bites and cocktails made by the Captain, and then sailed back. Ended the evening with a casual dinner at the hotel.
DAY NINE: Had breakfast by the pool and then took hotel transportation to the beach where they have designated tents/chairs and team members who supply water (a really nice touch) for Esh guests. Enjoyed the sunshine and the ocean, walked into and around town, stopping into local shops and a bar for a cold beverage. Our last stop before heading back to the hotel was a cute bakery/restaurant called Orgánico for a quick bite, some baked treats, and fresh-pressed juice (they also had a pool in the middle of the patio to cool off on hot days). Took a car service (which the hotel set up) to/from dinner at Restaurante La Luna.
DAY TEN: Took a car service for the 2.5 hour drive to Liberia airport and flew home!
